Weekly e-pistle 05/29/2016

  St. Paul's
   E-pistle

May 26, 2016

This Sunday, May 29th
2nd Sunday after Pentecost
God hears every prayer-the prayer of the outsider as well as the prayer of the insider. The attentive nature of our God is evident as God comes to us again and again in the word and in the supper. "Ascribe to the Lord the honor due the holy name; bring offerings and enter the courts of the Lord." Do it today.

Holy Communion - 11 AM
All are welcome to receive Communion!

Sunday's Readings:
1 Kings 8:22-23, 41-43        Psalm 96:1-9         Galatians 1:1-12         Luke 7:1-10

Sunday's chancel flowers: are given to the glory of God by Melinda Bach in Celebration of Lorree Lucas's Birthday on May18th.

Installation ceremony and reception of Reverend Dr. Dawn Roginski on Sunday, May 22nd.
On this day of celebration Pr. Carlton Monroe delivered the sermon. Pr. Monroe was joined by Pr. William (Bill) Embree to conduct the installation of  Pr. Dawn. Members of the Vallejo Choral Society, including member Pr. Dawn, St. Paul's choir members and musicians from Holy Trinity performed special music.  All attendees were invited to join in fellowship after the Installation.

Thank you to all who helped
A note from Karen Spears:
A most sincere thank you to the many, many hands that helped to make the reception for Pastor Dawn the lovely and delicious event that it was.  You are all marvelous. Thank you for all your help on Sunday and a big thanks to Keith for all his hard work outside on Saturday. A very small crew for a very big joy, but the grounds looked great.
Blessings,
Karen

SPECIAL CONGREGATION MEETING - SUNDAY JUNE 19TH
There will be a special congregation meeting following the worship service on Sunday June 19th.  This meeting is being held at the request of the Building Committee to share their findings and recommendations regarding the two annex buildings. Please plan to attend to hear the committees recommendations and be part of the decisions that move us forward. See the bulletin board in the fellowship hallway or a committee member if you'd like more information.

HAPPENING IN THE COMMUNITY

Vallejo Farmers Market
Beginning Saturday, May 28th we will be joining in fellowship with the volunteers from Holy Trinity to staff a booth at the Vallejo Farmers Market.  We are looking for volunteers from St. Paul's to help.  Please  sign up for a 2 hour time block to help in the booth and spread the word.  See Kathy Sutin or       Pr. Dawn if you have any questions or want more information.

Summer Lunch Program
Sadly, we have been notified by the Director of the Summer Lunch Program that St. Paul's Lutheran Church will not be a host site for lunch distribution this year.  Due to low participation it is not cost effective for the program to deliver to our site.  Thank you to all who have given your time and support to this program over the years.

Brown Bag Meal Ministry
Remember the hungry on street corners and elsewhere by having a Brown Bag Meal handy in your car to offer these folks. The bags are available for pick-up at church, along with envelopes to donate the $4.00 it costs to fill a bag. The donation, however, is optional. Please record your name, the date, and number of bags you take. Give generously and joyfully!
