Looking Our Best
In preparation of Pastor Dawn's installation two work days have been scheduled to clean up the church.

Friday, May 20th, 9:00 a.m.
We will concentrate on cleaning and setting up Fellowship Hall for the reception. Also generally clean and ready the rest of the downstairs area.

Saturday, May 21st, 9:00 a.m.
We will concentrate on the Sanctuary and the grounds.
Please join us in looking our best.

In addition, we have been notified by the Vallejo Fire Department that our church properties are in violation of a variety of city codes. Most immediately, the weeds between the two annex buildings must be cut down.  At Saturday's clean-up, we need weed wackers and your help to accomplish this.

There will be additional work days scheduled soon to correct the other violations we have been notified of.  Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

We are in need of flowers.  We are looking for flowers to help beautify the reception following Pastor Dawn's Installation on Sunday.  If you have flowers to share, brought in vases from home, please email or call Karen Spears, 707-644-2985.  We will use them on the serving tables.  Thank you.

Installation of Reverend Dr. Dawn Roginski
Sunday, May 22, at 3 pm.
We are expecting 100-plus guests for this day of celebration.  Pr. Carlton Monroe has been invited by Pr. Dawn to deliver the sermon at her installation. Friends of Pr. Dawn from the Vallejo Choral Society, where Pr. Dawn sings alto, and choir members and musicians from Holy Trinity will participate in special music on this festive day. The Dean of the Sierra Pacific Synod will preside at the service of installation and clergy from across the Synod will be there to celebrate with Pr. Dawn and wish her well.

HAPPENING IN THE COMMUNITY

Vallejo Farmers Market
Beginning Saturday, May 28th we will be joining in fellowship with the volunteers from Holy Trinity to staff a booth at the Vallejo Farmers Market.  We are looking for volunteers from St. Paul's to help.  Please  sign up for a 2 hour time block to help in the booth and spread the word.  See Kathy Sutin or       Pr. Dawn if you have any questions or need more information.

Brown Bag Meal Ministry
Remember the hungry on street corners and elsewhere by having a Brown Bag Meal handy in your car to offer these folks. The bags are available for pick-up at church, along with envelopes to donate the $4.00 it costs to fill a bag. The donation, however, is optional. Please record your name, the date, and number of bags you take. Give generously and joyfully!

Commemorations for the Week

Nicolaus Copernicus, died 1543; Leonhard Euler, died 1783; scientists
Tuesday, May 24, 2016
These two men were both scientists who helped to explain the wonders of God's universe. Copernicus is best known for promoting the idea that the sun, not the earth, is at the center of our solar system. Euler was one of the founders of pure mathematics, and contributed to many other fields.

John Calvin, renewer of the church, died 1564
Friday, May 27, 2016
Gifted both as a systematic theologian and as an interpreter of scriptures, Calvin embraced the Reformation, and as a preacher in Geneva, Switzerland, brought a theocratic government to it. He is regarded as the father of the Reformed churches.
