This Sunday, May 3rd

Fifth Sunday of Easter

Holy Communion - 10 AM - All are welcome to receive Communion!

This Sunday's image of how the risen Christ shares his life with us is the image of the vine. Christ the vine and we the branches are alive in each other, in the mystery of mutual abiding that we read of in the gospel and the first letter of John. Baptism makes us a part of Christ's living and life-giving self and makes us alive with Christ's life. As the vine brings food to the branches, Christ feeds us at his table. We are sent out to bear fruit for the life of the world.

This Sunday St. Paul's will join people of faith across the country in step outside the walls of our building for a moment of silence and prayer for Baltimore.

Remember to bring your food offering!

Sunday's readings:

 Acts 8:26-40, Psalm 22:25-31, 1 John 4:7-21, John 15:1-8

Other Happenings:

Bring a Food Offering for the Food Bank on Sunday! Leave your food donations for the Food Bank in the basket as you enter worship. They will be presented at the altar, along with our offerings of money, bread and wine.

Acolyte training Sunday after worship: Acolytes will meet with their mentors in the nave immediately following worship.

Finance Committee meets Sunday immediately following worship.

Want to learn more about being a Lutheran Christian, or have your baby baptized?

An inquiry class meets Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. New members will be received and baptisms will take place on Pentecost, May 24th.

Spring Congregation Meeting May 17th immediately following worship: At our spring meeting, we will elect council members and a call committee. Please pray about how God may be calling you to serve during this time of transition.

Cookies Needed for Synod Assembly: Each congregation is asked to provide several dozen nutritious cookies for the synod assembly's hospitality room. Please put your cookies in containers you will not need back, and leave them in the kitchen by Thursday, May 28th. Pr. Pamela and Craig Pyle will attend this year's synod assembly as voting members. Dave Pond and Vicki Pyle will accompany them as visitors. (Please note that many pastors consider chocolate to be an essential nutrient. It provides endorphins to help people stay calm and centered during heated debate.)

Giving flowers for the chancel is a great way to honor someone you love! Please sign up for the dates you prefer when the clipboard is passed around during worship.

Help make malaria history!

We need your help. Five years ago the ELCA joined worldwide efforts to fight malaria by launching the ELCA Malaria Campaign. Our goal: $15 million by 2015 to support malaria programs of our Lutheran companions and partners. Today, we're 90 percent of the way there. With your gift now, you can be a part of making malaria history!
