St. Paul's               E-pistle         December 22, 2016 This Sunday, December 25th Nativity of Our Lord Christmas Day  On this Christmas morning the people of God gather to celebrate the birth of the Word made flesh, Christ our Lord. Luke recounts the familiar story of shepherds and angels; John's gospel tells of the Word that dwells among us, full of grace and truth. The meaning of Christmas is made clear: the light shines in the darkness. It is in the liturgy that we encounter the Word made flesh-in the people of God gathered together as the body of Christ, and in the meal around the holy table. We go forth to be bearers of light as we proclaim this good news to all the ends of the earth. Holy Communion - 10 AM   All are welcome to receive Communion! Please sign up for a 2 hour time block to help in the booth and spread the word. See Kathy Sutin or Pr. Dawn if you have any questions or want more information. Brown Bag Meal Ministry Remember the hungry on street corners and elsewhere by having a Brown Bag Meal handy in your car to offer these folks. The bags are available for pick-up at church, along with envelopes to donate the $4.00 it costs to fill a bag. The donation, however, is optional. Please record your name, the date, and number of bags you take. Give generously and joyfully! The Holy Innocents, Martyrs Wednesday, December 28, 2016 This day commemorates the young children killed by Herod in Bethlehem in his jealous attempt to murder the baby Jesus, a sobering reminder of the evil that led Christ to be born for our salvation.
