This Sunday, June 21st: The Fourth Sunday of Pentecost

Holy Communion - 10 AM - All are welcome to receive Communion!

Now is the acceptable time; now is the day of salvation! Now we are in the storm, the boat almost swamped; but Jesus is here now, and when we call him he will calm the storm. Even the wind and waves listen to him as they would to their creator. We also listen to him and are called to believe in the power of God's word in him, a power greater than all that we fear.

Book Study - 9 AM

Sunday's readings:
job 38:1-11; Psalm 107:1-3, 23-32; 2 Corinthians 6:1-13; Mark 4:35-41

Special Congregation Meeting to Adopt Budget June 21st: There will be a special meeting of the congregation on June 21st to adopt a budget. The council urges all members to be present. We expect this will be a short meeting, as the congregation will be asked to vote on a one-month extension of the existing budget in order to allow the finance committee more time to craft a new budget using information from the finance workshops.

An Evening for Women Thursday, June 25th, 5:30 p.m.: Two women who are financial experts with a passion for helping women chart plans for financial wellness will lead a time of conversation, questions and answers, advise, at Thanksgiving Lutheran Church, Santa Rosa, It's been described as "a good stewardship kind of event -- not a sales pitch, more of a focused 'party.'" If you are a woman who might benefit from some financial advice, this event is for you!

A message from Pr. Pamela

Most of you know I been serving St. Paul's half-time since the beginning of the year. That means I am not able to participate in the life of the congregation as fully as I did last year, and often am not able to respond as quickly to phone calls, emails and text messages. Of course, if you or a loved one experiences a crisis or emergency, you should feel free to contact me immediately, and I will respond as soon as I am able. Call me at home, if necessary. (My home number is in the directory.) I do not keep my cell phone by my bed!

In addition to Sundays, I reserve most Tuesday and Wednesday nights for church business. I am available most Tuesday afternoons and/or Wednesdays, by phone, email, text, or in person, depending upon council and committee meetings, hospitalizations, and so on. I reserve one other floating day for study and sermon preparation, but cannot be available for conversation during that time, as I need to remain focused. I have commitments outside the congregation at other times during the week.

If something important is happening in your life, please share the information with me when I am able to give you my full attention. If you mention it to me just before, during or just after worship, I may well lose track of the information, despite my best intentions. Please remind me later, in person, by phone, by text, by email, or on a slip of paper.

This summer I expect to be away three times:
  • Next week, beginning Sunday, I will be at the Interim Ministry Network conference.
  • The week of July 19th, I will be in Lake Tahoe teaching interim ministry.
  • In early August, I will be taking vacation.

Blessings,

~ Pr. Pamela
